We’re excited to announce that Granular Energy's EnergyTag accreditation is now global. The expanded accreditation builds on the company's existing certification for the UK and Europe's AIB region, now enabling clients around the world to track and verify their hourly matching and progress towards 24/7 clean energy consumption.

The expansion addresses growing demand from multinational organisations seeking consistent, granular energy tracking across their global operations. As more companies commit to 24/7 carbon-free energy goals, the need for standardised hourly matching of energy consumption with production has become critical in markets beyond Europe. Granular Energy's Config 3 accreditation means we can now support utilities and retailers with GC issuance globally, ensuring they can provide their customers with EnergyTag accredited products and tariffs.

Config 3 enables the issuance and redemption of Granular Certificates (GCs) that verify renewable energy consumption on an hourly basis, building on top of existing monthly certificate schemes. Unlike traditional annual matching systems, this approach provides transparency into when and where clean energy is actually being consumed, ensuring that renewable energy claims reflect the true carbon intensity of the electricity grid at any given hour.

The worldwide accreditation enables Granular Energy to issue certificates that meet EnergyTag standards in markets covering North America, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Africa, complementing its existing European coverage, bar Taiwan which already has hourly tracking and China where regulation precludes building on top of the national certificate scheme. This creates a unified framework for companies pursuing 24/7 carbon-free energy commitments across multiple continents.

The move supports the broader industry shift toward time-matched energy procurement, with major energy buyers increasingly recognising that annual matching alone is insufficient to drive the round-the-clock clean energy availability needed to fully decarbonise electricity grids.
