npower Business Solutions Leverages Granular Energy for Enhanced Renewable Energy Transparency
npower Business Solutions has partnered with Granular Energy to offer business customers renewable energy matching, providing enhanced transparency and detailed reporting on energy sourcing to support decarbonization and Scope 2 emissions tracking.

npower Business Solutions (nBS) has partnered with Granular Energy to provide its business customers with advanced renewable energy reporting. This collaboration enhances transparency, giving businesses detailed insight into the sources and timing of their renewable energy, empowering them to take control of their decarbonisation strategies.
nBS, a part of E.ON Group since 2021, has been a driving force in delivering energy solutions to UK businesses, supporting over 24,000 industrial and commercial clients. nBS leverages E.ON's global expertise and resources to provide cutting-edge energy solutions that support businesses in their transition to a more sustainable, low-carbon future.
Using our software, nBS is streamlining and enhancing their green tariff and REGO programme deliveries. Through this new service, nBS’s business customers on UK Renewable Pure and UK Renewable Pure Plus products will receive comprehensive reports detailing the breakdown of their energy sources, along with insights into their carbon impact from renewable energy purchasing choices. This gives customers greater clarity and confidence in their renewable energy choices, paving the way for a carbon-free grid while supporting businesses in their energy transition journey. This fits into nBS's innovation within the renewable energy space, and meets current customer demand for transparency, but also positions nBS as leading the charge towards a sustainable, low-carbon future in the UK.
Businesses will receive an annual report, which includes a breakdown showing how much consumption is matched by each asset type, as well as information about carbon impact, based on the difference between location-based emissions of the local grid and the market-based emissions that come from energy purchasing choices. It will also include specific detail on the certificates that have been allocated, the production devices that are matched to a business’s consumption, as well as charts outlining how consumption is matched with production for each fuel mix disclosure period.
Ben Whitelam, Director of Commercial at nBS, said: “Businesses increasingly want to buy their power from renewable sources to both reduce their emissions and improve their security of supply. That said, it is also important that there is complete transparency and traceability around how and where this power is sourced, so organisations can confidently shout about their renewable credentials.
“We are committed to supporting businesses to accurately report their Scope 2 emissions, and customers on our UK Renewable Pure and UK Renewable Pure Plus products already know that their power will be matched from energy generated from wind, solar or hydro assets.
“This partnership with Granular Energy provides another layer of detail, giving organisations clarity on the source of their energy. It also greatly reduces the level of manual reporting required for Scope 2 emissions, as well as providing increased accuracy.”

50 questions from the room: defending hourly EAC matching at the RECs Market Meeting
I argued for hourly matching in a room that remains to be convinced. They had many questions. That’s the reality of debating hourly EAC matching, and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. In a room where most of the audience prefers annual EAC matching, arguing the virtue and need for hourly wasn’t easy. I've done my best to answer the questions below, by topic.
