Partnership Announcement: Granular Energy & Matched Energy
Granular Energy has partnered with Matched Energy, a UK non-profit that benchmarks energy suppliers' clean energy performance using public data. While Matched Energy provides independent transparency through hourly matching scores, Granular Energy gives suppliers the infrastructure to launch 24/7 clean energy tariffs. Together, they're building a transparent energy system that enables innovative carbon-free electricity products for consumers.

Delivering 24/7 carbon-free energy requires multiple infrastructure layers including independent benchmarking, detailed supplier data, and accurate hourly reporting. That's why we've been supporting Matched Energy, an independent non-profit initiative which uses public data to calculate hourly matching scores for UK suppliers.
About Matched Energy
Matched Energy is a UK-based non-profit bringing transparency to the clean energy space. Founded by Joe Kwiatkowski, the initiative provides half-hourly portfolio-level scores for UK suppliers using entirely public data from Elexon and Ofgem. Their goal is to offer an independent, data-driven view of suppliers' carbon-free energy performance, helping evolve public conversation around accountability and comparability in clean energy use.
How we complement each other
This initiative perfectly complements what we do at Granular Energy. While Matched Energy uses public data to provide independent benchmarking across suppliers at the portfolio level (explore their methodology here), we work directly with energy suppliers as the mechanism that enables them to launch hourly matching tariffs and products.
We use supplier-sourced private data, notably half-hourly metered of consumption and generation, to provide the accurate hourly matching that suppliers need to deliver time-based clean energy offerings to their customers. This means our platform supports the detailed reporting at either the tariff or even the consumer level.
Our collaboration
We've worked closely with Matched Energy since inception, contributing to methodology development and sharing insights into the UK energy market. Our ambitions are aligned, and our respective work highly complementary:they provide the independent transparency signal, while we provide suppliers with the operational infrastructure to act on those insights.
